Val McFarland’s story
Louis's Dilemma; ($370.00 later)
A previously healthy, vibrant year-old Boston Terrier- walked and watered, set out to play in the garden, frisky and full of fun. Ten minutes later, unable to stand, forelegs splayed and spasming, little face flat on the floor, eyes full of fear. My daughter scooped him up and headed for the Vet Emergency Hospital on 17th. Ave. Immediate IV insertion, copious amounts of charcoal, blood analysis, overnight stay and trauma for all. Certainly not from our pesticide-free garden and almost certainly from somewhere on the neighborhood walk, on leash, I might add. Probable source as pronounced by the Vet: pesticide use by individuals, the city and or lawn care companies. Prompt action and $370.00 saved his life.
Who needs this? Let’s phase out pesticides in Calgary!
